All About Tech Prep

Tech Prep programs and activities are designed
to help students and educators
in the field of Career and Technical Education.
Our mission is to make education relevant so that students
find value in pursuing an education and find success in their chosen career.

For Students:
Tech Prep activities give students the opportunity to learn about and experience Blackhawk Technical College programs.  In many cases, students are eligible to earn credit for prior learning by taking classes at their high schools.  The goal of Tech Prep is to help students think about life after high school and realize the importance of post-secondary education.  Activities are designed to enhance a student's technical and academic skills while providing opportunities for a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary school or the workforce.

For educators:
Tech Prep programs give area educators different opportunities to positively impact students' learning.  Professional development activities are designed to give educators time and/or stipends to further tech prep initiatives
.
Educator Externships get educators into area businesses and organizations to experience first-hand the knowledge and skills needed by students entering the world of work.  The PK16 Professional Development:  Summer Institute allows educators to work on projects of their own choosing to develop career and technical education.  Our goal is to prepare students to live and work in the 21st century!
